Alan,
On my Windows 10 calculator in scientific mode - set to DEG mode then when the DMS button is clicked you will get the answer without the ° ' " marks. Example: 45.5 DMS shows 45.3 where the 45.3 is actually 45°30'00". The reverse would be 45.3000 DEG for 45.5 display.
Be careful not to use the DEG mode button on the upper left otherwise you will end up with RAD or GRAD. Use the DMS and DEG that are side by side on the main display below the trig buttons. When using the cos sin tan functions you need to work in degrees tenths etc and not degrees minutes seconds.
