The equation in the 1958 Bowditch for Table 22, (Dip of the Sea Short of the Horizon) is
D = 0.4156d+0.5658*h/d
where D is dip in minutes, d is the distance to the obstruction in nautical miles, and h is the height of the observer above sea level in feet.
