Hello Frank,
Some comments about the paper of Mendoza about double altitude problem.
About the direct methode, Mendoza gave the name of Duillier, Pitot and Maupertuis ; but in the "voyage de la frégate l'Isis", Fleurieu gave the name of Pitot and Pezenas (maybe Duillier unknow in France ?).
On a other hand, Mendoza don't give the name of Dunn ; but in the Paul study, the methode of two hour angle is due to Lalande (1764) instead Dunn. No allusion also of the method of Borda (see "voyage de la flore" and "traité du cercle à reflexion").
