I looked up the story at https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20240131-researchers-say-amelia-earharts-long-lost-plane-may-have-just-been-found and the group  The International Group for Historical Aircraft Recovery (Tighar) is, from memory, one of Gary LaPook's non-favorite organizations. They've announced various photographs, a shoe, a sextant box, and a piece of aluminum as proof that the mystery was almost solved.

We'll see about this time.
