Hello Kermit,
I certainly share your definitional frustrations with Stellarium. It seems not to have been designed with celnavers in mind. I find it useful for illustrating specific situations (for example, the start of Cook's Eclipse) and I use it for 'rough' sight planning now and then but when it comes to numbers with well understood definitions I tend to rely on Frank's almanacs. There may be clever things that can be done using the developer's API along with other Stellarium facilities such as 'Plugins', 'Scripting', and so on; however, Frank's almanacs have always provided everything that I have ever required so far (thanks Frank).
Cheers,
Jim.
