After driving 4 hours to the Middle of Nowhere Wyoming from our Denver hotel to view the 2017 Great American Eclipse. Nearly immediately afte that, my best half & I became a part of the equally historic. Great Wyoming 12 hour traffic jam back to Denver to catch our flight back to Houston, TX.
Having learned from that experience I reserved the Kerville, TX State Park's largest cabin for 2 days each surrounding the 14Oct23 annular eclipse & the 08Apr24 total eclipse.
The next morning the park called asking if I wanted a refund owing to the 6 & 7 year error in my reservations. Of course I declined & notified them of what was ahead.
The annular was exquisite & CAVU to the Moon. For now we're excercising Precatory risk mitigation regarding the Monday forecast.
Fortunately, the Mooney aircraft factory is just down the road at KERV were the FBO, Kerville Aviation, offers Instrument Flight Rule training.
