The manual for my CR computer says, "A little vaseline wiped over the transparent wind disk not only makes it more transparent, it also makes it easier to wipe off pencil dots. Pencil will go on just as easy. It will not work for a pen, however." I have no Vaseline at hand, so have not tried that. To remove a mark on the wind disk I get most of it with the eraser, then lick my thumb and rub the spot. That also works on grease pencil marks.
