A Tamaya Venus 7/8 yacht sextant was used. These are very nice compact instruments. No real compromises for the down size. Thinking back to my early years I recall a sailor who noticed a big difference between his Polaris latitudes and his LAN latitudes. I'm wondering if a similar thing happened here to discover the error.
