    Filming/photographing through sextant
    From: Bill Lionheart

I have seen a few instructions for mounting different telescopes and
sight tubes on a sextant (usually making a fork with an adapter for
the front of the telescope) I have seen various arrangements whereby
a smart phone can be attached to a monocular as an enhanced zoom. So
my thought is if I want to film the taking of a (eg sun) sight with
my smart phone camera could I use the same type of mounting. One
thing I don't understand is how a phone camera manages to make a
focused image from an eye-piece. I thought one needed to add or
remove some optics. Does it only work on some telescopes and
monoculars or is it because the phone camera is so small?

Mainly I thought it would be educational, but could have other uses of course!

    Best wishes Bill Lionheart
