Though I am not a pilot Gary, there is an interesting chart in the book written by Jon Myhre, "The Discovery of Flight-19", Pg. 11 that really says it all. In the official Navy report the True coarse was seemingly indicated by a formal exhibit in small notes on Pg 203 of the report, (See Myhres book.for indicators) to be 96 degrees with a variation of 1 degree Magnetic not the 91 degrees listed at the beginning of the Navy's report. If true, it is just one of several inconsistences found in the report that really makes you wonder how well the leadership understood its own program?
