Along with your many interesting comments, I came on the a above today.. For us older types, who have picked up asorted aches and pains through the years, including lower back discomfort, sextant shots while seated ease the pain/discomfort. By the way, another use for the cup holder could be the following. It serves as a place to put the monocular that one might use in addition to the smaller telescopes that come with sextants, at least with Astra IIIB's.
