The Berthing HMS Queen Elizabeth webinar is now available on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UldqY4ktPts .
It's interesting to note that Britain's most recent, largest ever, and probably most expensive naval vessels are piloted into Portsmouth Harbour using methods which would be familiar to Cook and Bligh; namely the Mk1 Eyeball. They don't actually say "leave the starboard high light a handspike open on the starboard low light" as Bligh might have, but they get very close.
The second half of the video shows how RN Specialist Navigators are trained including training exercises navigating their ship into Scottish lochs using both horizontal and vertical grey (ships) sextants with the compass denied for bearings. DaveP
