Hello Noell,
Many thanks for the images of your AH - I like your approach.
If I had a *tap set*, I would have followed your method of construction as well, but not having any taps, I just used the *furniture levelers* which had the added bonus of an attractive knob to turn - to level the mirror.
It was last Sunday I first used my plastic AH, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experiment. It was quite a thrill to set it up, carefully using the bubble levels to get a *horizontal* and then taking shots of the Sun to adjust the sextant mirrors to get a (good enough) zero index error and adjust for parallax. I didn't know if the low cost builders levels were any good, but was pleasantly surprised at my results, using Frank's Anti Spoof app to assess my sextant angles.
Although I only live 2.78 Km from the South Pacific Ocean, I really wanted an AH to learn on and practice getting to handle the sextant.
Thanks also Noell, for your item on mirror resurfacing. The photo of your mirror, is pretty much what mine looks like on a second hand Mk15 Davis sextant.
Hope you're as happy with your AH, as I am with mine Noell.
Regards, Geoff Hitchcox, Christchurch, New Zealand.
