Gnomonic Charts - Usable Zones

If I have a gnomonic chart, such as the attached graphic file, a great circle route is represented as a straight line.

Is this true for all visible portions of this chart? Or does the straight-line-GC lose accuracy as you move to the bottom (or some other) edge of the chart?
