Hello!
Regarding the fake CN or cheating: while I practice with a sextant on a shore - I'm often approached by curious people. Many of them are/were somehow connected to sea-going. Most of them recall and confess that being cadets/CN-students they choose to send a "spy" on the bridge to obtain the official data on ship's position - to use it backwards to fake the sights.
