Thanks for that. I am surprised that sextants command so little money. The Kelvin and Hughes sextants seem to sell here in the UK for as little as £140. Not worth selling at that price. I will hold on to mine as it has a lot of memories attached to it, having navigated with it around the world with it more than once. I never got to use a bubble sextant and would guess it is quite tricky to get an accurate fix. Accuracy would be relevent to your speed, aircraft v a truck in the desert! All the best, Neville
