Just a day or two ago, I posted a brief clip from the BBC documentary "The Great War" which was originally broadcast a half-century after the war in 1964 (a.k.a. the first world war), and we are now one full century after that war. The fourth episode (if I remember correctly) discusses the war against the German Navy in the Pacific and the Indian Ocean and shows this scene of three navigators all aligned with the horizon and the Sun, rolling in unison, as they take their sights in high seas. There are a couple of interesting things to notice about the sextant used by the navigator in the middle...
