Giro (of a sextant) rotates at hundreds revolutions per minute??
Seems too slow to me.

Perhaps thousands?
Or hundreds per second?

Bill, there is a phrase in your article:

As the gyro rotates at hundreds of time a minute, the image projected into the 
sextant flickers only a little.

I'd rather made it:

As the gyro rotates at hundreds revolutions per minute, the image projected 
into the sextant flickers only a little.

The rest of the text is OK to me.
