Staying in theme for those who would rather add than do the single 4 place multiplication step when reducing by Hav Doniol, I will suggest using the ageton classic AB table for just the multiplication step. This means that the Hav Doniol reduction is no longer longhand and a second log table is introduced to the natural haversine table. As you say nothing is free. See attached example.

Date: 2015 Nov 18, 13:47 -0800I have never liked the multiplication step necessary in the hav Doniol calculation, and after some work I found that the multiplication can be avoided, or rather replaced by introducing two simple "divide by 2" operations. But the method requires some additional angles to be calculated and their haversines looked up. Please find the details in enclosed file. Whether this procedure is better or worse than Hanno's/Greg's original method can probably be discussed for a long time. I do not claim that this procedure is easier to use, but it could perhaps interest some of the members in this group.
