I say the haversines have it. Here is an example RIC for you to have showing side by side Doniol haversine longhand reductions for Hc and TS. Notice that 3/4 of the Hc reduction is transferable to the TS reduction.

I've been happy with Versines for years, but now like the Haversine Doniol as per Greg and Hanno.
In my opinion , the best long hand method for Hc and I intend to trial for TS asap.
