Frank,
Not only do I have sympathy, I have a lot of sentiment for him. Great guy and great teacher. And he "got it" as I have seen many who don't. When I called him a few years ago, he sounded like GPS had stolen his fire.
He made Lieutenant Commander at the academy, and deserved more. God bless practitioners. They beat theorists in my mind.
