Liquid artificial horizons other than mercury, do not allow for sights of dim bodies other than the moon or sun. If both can be sighted at the same time or over time in a running fix, a position can be obtained. If you use a mirror horizon you may take sights from nearly any star or planet. There are many postings about this here. I am inland myself and routinely use this method.
