    So how about a more recent article with some background on the history of astronomical refraction? Maybe less than six months old?? Some of you will recognize the name Andrew Young. He's an acknowledged expert in the topic,  and he's an adjunct professor at SDSU in San Diego [who has been studying refraction for a while --a "while" meaning more than half a century]. Here's Young's latest article, published earlier this year in the French Comptes Rendus of Physics (article is in English):
