You are right. I had no control over this parameter but assuming that all modern glass is a float glass quality I can also assume it is flat enough for this particular application. The square 6mm mirror in the photo's have already been tested. Using my exact coordinates as a DR position I've got systematically small intercept amplitudes (less than 1' ) upon leveling it with precision vials. Same results were obtained with an optical grade FSM which I used as a reference.
I can judge home made FSM only on basis of final (systematic) results.

flatness of the mirror is important, and may be a factor with some inexpensive ones.Fred Hebard
