Good luck, It might be easier to paint your part to match. "Brass" seems to follow and break the nature vs. nurture rule.

I'm trying to replace the magnifier arm on an Elliott Bros. box sextant. Most methods seemed hazardous.
I finally tried hanging it in a sealed jar over an ammonia soaked paper towel but the results didn't match the original.
I improved on the color in the photo by rubbing and oiling but it's still a greenish color.
Any suggestions on how to get a matching color?
