Dear Herman,
Did you try to use the built-in shades first? Why did you decide to install that jury-rigged one?
In real life you will use the built-in shads when taking sights, - lunars or other, so you should determine IE with them on. Doing so you take into account any error the shades may introduce. If you want the no-shades IE determination - just look at the real horizon.
