Yes, Professor Olson has made a little industry of these sorts of cross-disciplinary analyses. Some of them seem plausible. Others are junk. For example, this is the same guy who invented a wildly absurd theory about tides in January 1914 releasing stranded icebergs from the coast of Canada which could have explained why the Titanic ran into one in April of that year. Except the tidal analysis is crap.
