While going through my library to get a log table (my preferred method for multipling 4 digit numbers), I pulled out my copy of Inman's, which has a nice format version of such a table. I'd forgotten that this volume, which I purchased in a used book store in Halifax many years ago, carried it's own history. Note its service on HMS Hood in 1927. It's quite a worn volume. It's been recovered in canvas at some point in its service. But it brings to mind such adventures it must have seen (and perhaps contributed to), that it is among my favorites.
