I have the 2004 edition. It's not an introductory text. I would say it's aimed at astronomy graduate students. You should probably have not just spherical trig, but vector calculus and matrix operations. Several page attached. (Note I like it, and am happy to have it.)
While Seidelmann is the coauthor, when I visited him at UVA to ask about some of the example calculations, he admitted not being familar with the entire text.
