I have found reference to this book, written or contributed in part by her "great-great-great-great nephew". https://www.amazon.com/Mistress-Science-Remarkable-Pioneer-Navigation/dp/1445659859 I know nothing of it and cannot speak to it at all.
When I obtained this octant 42 years ago (long pre-internet) it certainly took me some time to learn about it. Previous to me it was in the upper floor of a small outbuilding that was in the same family for three generations, so possibly they were the last actual users of it.
