    This is what a complete instrument w/ mount should look like.(see link below)

    I find it strange that your sextant is missing the averager as this is an integral and necessary part of the instrument. If so, you got cheated. The one I sold came in a case w/ the electrical cords for connection to mount and to aircraft. Also there was a manual. A mount was included. The bubble was filled w/ Dow Silicone liquid and the dessicant was renewed w/ heat in my oven. The combining pellicle was in good condition.  I tested the electronics by using a 24 V doorbell /furnace transformer as the best approximation to 28V aircraft current. AC or DC didn't seem to matter.
