Yes, exactly. :) That's the idea. We can get longitude directly and accurately, if latitude is available, and no plotting is required. Of course, if needed, we can also get a line of position for that Sun sight simply by repeating the longitude calculation for a secondary, arbitrary (assumed!) latitude.
Since you worked this one up, I should write up a little puzzle that I think you will enjoy ...involving a lighthouse. Coming shortly!
