I hope that I have got my facts correct.......
The upper of the two wires is loosely called the catenary. When first strung up this is correct. However when the contact wire is installed the curve become a parabola. However the wire is not renamed the "parabola" (-;
This loose use of "catenary" is similar to the word "gps" which in the media seems to mean any form of determining position.
A few months ago I had a disk crash and have not restored all of my photos. I am sure that I have much better catenary photos.............
