I totally agree with you:
Do not, however, substitute CN for EPIRB/PLB. That is a mistake.
I do not substitute, nor even trying to. I'm studying the options - the plan here is similar to Frank's anti-spoof program, to be able to have check on what EPIRB/PLB thinks of my current QTH.
