Hello!
As a follow-up: using the QuartReg on the same data gave these approximating functions:
- Arcturus: -0.5740221777·x4 + 27.53407695·x3 - 496.1262382·x2 + 3967.586927·x - 11779.35285
- Deneb: (2.6678902·10-4)·x4 - 0.053970575·x3 + 1.873697936·x2 -12.85936349·x + 5.693760709
And these functions give the HCs for 11:30 to within an arcsecond of the actual altitudes, thus bringing the fix to the proper location (30°6'N 30°6'E).
It's no surprize actually...
Regards,
Tony
