Philippe,
The sun hangs for about 4 minutes around culmination. This is problematic for determining the exact moment of culmination. The traditional go around for this is to split the difference in time of an equal altitude 40 minutes or so before and after culmination. The split difference will be a close approximation of the the exact moment of LAN.
