Brent give an example of the double altitude method. I can get the correct answer but do not understand why. The correction formula should give a value of 2m36 sec - see the image. The input data is a mix of arc seconds and seconds of time. If I convert 77.5 min to seconds of time the result of the formula is 0.0433 but what are the units?
If I do a sexagesimal conversion on my calculator the answer is 0° 2' 36". These numbers are identical to the 2m 36 sec time correction but 2m 36sec is 0° 39' of arc.
I am thoroughly confused...........
