    I believe if you break the year into the four seasons and divide the 90 degrees in each season into the number of days in the season as the argument for cosine, accuracy can be improved considerably.

    declination=-23.44 cos((365/360)(N+10)), where N is the day of the year.
    (In the previous formula that I wrote, the slash between 365 and 360 was missing).
