I ran the video tonight, and reallyy interesting it was, thanks.
However, no butterscotch flavours for the RN, we had 1" square fruit flavours, 1/4" thick.

We still had those butterscotch sweets in 1979. A member of our crew held the practice survival stores inventory, so we felt obliged to open a tin occasionally to see if they were still edible. They were excellent. We never tried to make soup with them, although I did once overhear a chap attempting to convince a young lady that in a survival situation he could take the large dull green buttons off the substantial parka he was wearing and boil them to make a nutritious stew.
