Here is an image of the device in the original packaging.
On the left, we can observe the "crosshair" that is used for alignment of the prism on your sextant.
Hopefully, thi add will assist you in setting it up. I am looking forward to your future reports on this!

I recently acquired a Davis Mark 15 sextant but this sextants is a little different than other Mark 15s that l have used. It has a small lens that folds over the clear portion of the horizon lens. I have attached a picture of the sextant. Can anyone tell what this lens is for?
