Hello!
My FREIBERGER lacks a vernier scale. I missed it.
3M company produces a self-adhesive metallised tape. I took a small left-over stripe of it - and used this online tool to create a DIY vernier. Unlike the one on the photos - mine spans the 0' - 5' arc of the factory drum scale and has 6 divisions so that the lines align in natural way. I've put it on the conical part of the drum assemble (shown as the drum index here, my sextant has this detail as a coned surface).
The markings on my DIY scale are made "by hand" - but still let me see the fractions more clear.
