    Wow...I know the big shipwreck there in 1707 was the catalyst for what eventually became the Harrison Chronometer.

    It is surprising to me the number of uncharted areas (either uncharted, or incompletely charted) that still exist in the world.  I have an acquaintance who is a circumnavigator, and she said that some of her charts in the vicinity of Australia indicated that the area was last surveyed by Captain Cook.
