Hi Frank - sorry for the confusion. My computed GMT time for this second series and was off by 15 clock minutes. But, I went to your web app and put my data into it and it says I was off by 0.06' so I suspect that I messed up on the paper reduction. Do you have Thompson's tables on your web site, as well?
I will definitely use your predicted distance app in the future!
<phew> Glad I got the right limb. I was certain I had for the Moon/Sun geometry but the magnified near limb just looked kind of flat.
Thanks for the tips in finding the star. I was trying to hold the sextant in the line of centers of Moon/star as you suggest but I was not very good at holding that constant. At one point I realized I was trying to track an aircraft that had flown thru my line of sight which also didn't help. I will drag out a folding chair next time I head up the hill for a lunar.
Thank you!
