At the same time, as I have noted several times recently, NavList communication and discussion has been in steady decline for several years. Maybe we do need a new model... If it is to survive, what should NavList aspire to be?
Frank,
I don’t know about the decline, but some long-standing problems have been solved in the last year, at least in part, such as Modris Foester’s sextant calibration. Lunars are also less exotic now that your calculator is in common use for reducing the data. So this list is making progress on difficult problems and also helping out newbies.
We used to have George Huxtable as a well-respected senior member who straightened out some wayward souls. There is less of that now, perhaps because you do not enjoy straightening people out as much as George did, and many of the rest of us are not qualified to do so or do not have the desire. But the floss will blow away over time!
Best,
Fred
