A note, seeing the Winlink in that URL. The only useful way we communicated with the CG when BOUNTY was in extremis was by Winlink email over ham radio.
I'd set up the system on board in 2008, and we became dependent on it for crew communication.
The fixed satphone installation had failed while I was off the boat, so we had a handheld unit. But it couldn't connect to the satellites when below deck, and in the hurricane voice communication either direction was impossible on deck because of wind noise.
