Hi,
I have juste finished a technical study about navigation tables elaborated between 1840 and 1980. The pdf file is in free access on the website of the french Board of Longitudes: https://site.bdlg.fr [link edited] (go to "publications et documents" then to "collections du bureau des longitudes"). The study describes a great number of navigation tables issued essentially in Europe and USA; it is written in french language but logs and trigs are international and formulae can be understood by everybody interested by the subject. The study is divided in two parts: a general story with a minimum of maths, and technical addenda with demonstration of formulae and examples. The subject is quite difficult (maybe forbidding?) and not so easy to explain so I hope that some of you would be interested.
Regards
Paul Bedel.
