Hi Greg,
Weather hasn't been cooperating here in Florida at the moment but as soon as the skies clear I'll try to provide you with some raw images from my vantage point to inspect. Attached is my first moon 1st quarter effort using a new Canon 2000D with a vintage M42 mounted Super Takumar 200mm lens.. Very happy with the result.
Sure, no hurry. We've been having our own weather issues in the Bay Area: smoky skies from the wildfires. The Moon was noticeably orange last night, almost like an eclipse.
The longer lens of your image certainly shows the lunar features much better---I wonder whether bright craters or maria edges might be a better choice of feature than the limb when enough surface is visible. The tradeoff is a smaller total field and fewer stars.
Cheers,
Peter
