Peter,
I to have revisited the moon for improved DSLR CN LOPs and lunars. Weather hasn't been cooperating here in Florida at the moment but as soon as the skies clear I'll try to provide you with some raw images from my vantage point to inspect. Attached is my first moon 1st quarter effort using a new Canon 2000D with a vintage M42 mounted Super Takumar 200mm lens.. Very happy with the result. It is a jpeg with little processing. No filters on a tripod. For CN practical use it is necessary to try for fastest shutter yet still have the chosen star visible. Planets and bright stars show well and now that I have a camera that goes to ISO 6400 I'm able to work with mag 2.0 stars hand holding a 35mm wide angle. See attached jpeg Diphda image hand held and captured through some clouds during nautical twilight this morning.
