I asked permission from Stan Klein, and he agreed, that it would be all right for me to let the NavList community know that Stan is being treated for a rather aggressive type of cancer. He's been going through various treatments that have left him sick and fatigued and hasn't found much time to engage in NavList discussions. I know we all wish him the best and wish him a speedy recovery. Those of you who have time, I encourage you to bother him with some emails. Lots of emails! Distraction is great medicine. :) Stan, please feel free to post your email address directly. I'll arrange for it to be masked in such a way that you won't be bombarded with spam. Or you can do that yourself, of course.
Those of you who haven't met Stan Klein might appreciate a visual aid if you've been reading his messages for years, and especially if you have used his Celestial Tools software. Here's Stan delivering a presentation at the Navigation Conference at Mystic Seaport Museum last year:
I'll be organizing a little NavList gathering, just a little dinner and drinks, late next month since Gary LaPook is coming to town. Stan has promised he'll be there, too, assuming he's not beaten down too much by the illness or the treatments! There will be more details on this in the next 48 hours.
