Sorry about the mix-up with the numbers. It was an error in transcription from rough to final copy. It must have created a bit of confusion. I must admit I was puzzled by your use of the negative signs in the equation - I haven't seen this done before. I got the trig functions from a calculator but when time permits I like to use tables. I bought a copy of " Five -figure logarithmic and other tables " by Frank Castle from Abebooks. I scanned the pages and printed them out enlarged to A4 size. When stored in a plastic spiral bound folder they are a pleasure to use. I have also added the haversine tables of Hanno Ix with the intention of trying out longhand sight reductions with the Doniol /Rudzinski /Ix / Bergman method.
I have tried longhand using the ancient Hindu lattice multiplication method. Very quick and simple - see attached.
